6. Pros ects of further.

employment.

Although it must clearly be under- stod tret the Government is and

ill be under no obligation to provide further employment and that should the officer marry she will be required to resign her appoint- ment forthwith, the office of Assistant Mistress is normally regarded as of a permanent nature, and in the ordinary course of events if the service and conduct of the officer is entirely satisfactory to the Government, and if she is considered in every way rit, medically and otherwise, to continue in office, and if re- placement by engagement of some other person would become necessary but for her retention, the prospects are that the Government will retain her services, if she so desires, oither by transfer to the permanent establishment, with consequential benefits and expectations, or by re-engagement for a further period under a fresh agreement. In the absence of express agreement with or decision of the Government to the contrary any continued service after the expiry of the period of engagement will be monthly.

7. Conversion of salary into

local currency.

Jalaries are converted for payment in local currency at the rate of 1/3 = 1 Dollar so long as the Treasury rate of the dollar, based on the average monthly rate of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, remains, as at present, below that rate.

required to sail.

At the earliest possible date.
